ROW Lecture Tour - India 2012 Part 2

And so to India. Not quite though. How could I not share with you our joy in a last minute meal of Durian discovered at a roadside stall just prior to departing Malaysia.

And of course the lady selling them was indeed pleased to be making another sale. Perhaps as pleased as we were to having found her and to be able to enjoy the feast as a farewell and parting gift for a most enjoyable time spent.

And now to India.

We were met, by of all things by an ambulance from the Anbagam Rehabilitation Centre, an NGO in Chennai. I felt that the fact that it was for the mentally ill and retarded orphans was most appropriate, as many many feel that describes us to a tee. Travelling in an ambulance has certain advantages when travelling in traffic. Although with the chaos that is normal with traffic in India, I am not at all sure that this is really of benefit, perhaps a little more dangerous - if that could at all be possible.

We spent the day with the Director of the Rehabilitation Centre whose home is taken up mostly by the office of the centre.

That evening we set off by train for Sengotta, an overnight journey of more than twelve hours duration, sleeping in bunks with four people to a compartment. Any-one who has travelled on the local trains will assure you of the uniqueness of such an experience.

We had the company of interesting companions one of whom was the founder and president of another NGO set up for the development of humanity. A most interesting Tamil gentleman who invited us to his home to meet and talk with his family and participate in a meal. This we subsequently did, spend a most enjoyable few hours discussing matters of mutual interest.

The trains of India seem interminably longconsisting of 25 or more carriages with them always being fully occupied. In the past people even travelled on the roofs, although I have not observed this to be true today.

During our conversation with our Tamil friend, seen here with Dr K.V. I questioned him as to whether he came from Sri Lanka, believing, incorrectly as it turned out, that the Tamil people originated in that area. I was quietly disabused of that error, and informed that the Tamil people came from Kerala and those in Sri Lanka had emigrated there. So I continued to learn something new each day.

Our Tamil host with his family with whom we spent a most enjoyable few hours.

Our next port of call was the Good Life Ashram conducted br Dr Vazimi. The clients attending this ashram were exposed to raw food eating and fasting.
The Ashram was in a most delightful bushland setting which in, and of itself was very conducive to healing.

The present Director with some of his staff. The Director is the son of the original founder.

These are some of the accomodation units in which the guests stay.

After leaving the Ashram we continued our travels by car to the state of Kerala, and the home of my hosts sister. This gave me the opportunity to walk around the local village observing the houses in which the local people lived.

As can be seen, the houses are usually painted. The colours most commonly chosen are either pink, blue,  green or white, in there various phases. Some of course, are not painted and left in their natural state.

As can be well observed from the size and style of the homes, that whilst Kerala is the most prosperous state in India, this area in particular is definitly so.

Amidst all this prosperity were to be found the one and two roomed houses of the poorere people.

ROW Lecture Tour - Malaysia 2012 Part 2

The most delightful resort and organic farm that I mentioned at the end of my last posting, is, to say the least, a most inspiring and awesome development involving the expenditure of not hundreds, or thousands of dollars, but running into many millions. It is being developed by a local builder - the out-living of his dream, as I would see it. During our conversations I became very aware of his understanding of our need to have continual contact with all the elements of nature, and the very in-depth feeling and rapport that this incites in him.

It is important to bear in mind when viewing the photos and reading the text that all of this is being developed on the site of an old and abandoned tin mine, with what soil there is being considered as useless clay and sand.

These are photos of some of the heavy equipment in use at the resort to enable them to achive the massive earthmoving, and earthworks that are necessary for such a project to achive its aim within a relatively short period of time, considering its size, and the work involved.

Needless to say this is the type of equipment we would dearly love to assist us on the farm in OZ. You may rest asdsured though, that I/we are not envious of them, and only wish them well. If such were possible we would indeed love to assist them with their venture.

The guest accomodation units are built over the waters of an artificial lake.

A view of the lake with the units in the background.

The lining of the creek banks with these massive boulders, of the creeks feeding the lake, is one of the jobs the heavy equipment is called upon to do. With the heavy tropical downpours and flash flooding that occurs, this is a necessary precaution to stop erosion.

The development is so large that it requires its own electricity sub-station to supply all of its electrical requirements.

In various strategic spots, these thatched roofed gazebos are being erected for sitting quietly and meditating, enjoying the peacefulness, or sheltering from the frequent tropical storms.

Everywhere you look you see the trees and plants well nurtured with mulch.

The dreaded insects which attack the different fruits, such as the fruit fly and the sucking moth are also a reality here. To enable the fruit to mature and be edible without such attacks, the fruit is protected by covering with plastic bags. In this photo we see the fruit of the guava being saved by such an action.

Whilst at the resort I took the opportunity of visiting the nearby local Vispassana Centre. At this centre silent retreats are regularly held, being well attended by the local population. These silent retreats consist of spending ten days without talking.

To complete this segment I would like to share with you the photos of the magnificent building which has been created to comprise the the personal home for the owner and his special friends. It was here that we spent a most enjoyable two days.

What more magnificent setting could one ask for to eat on'e meal at the end of the day.

ROW Lecture Tour - Malaysia 2012

My journey actually commenced on Saturday March 17th with my arrival in KualaLumpur, having spent the Fridaynight of the 16th at a Motel on the Gold Coast prior to flying out just before midday for the eight hour flight to KL. Upon my arrival I was met by my host and colleague, Dr K V. and his friend prior to then travelling for a further four hours by bus to our destination, Kuantan.

,

In Kuantan we had the priviledge of staying with a local family in their delightful home. Malaysia is a relatively rich country by Asian standards, and the average person lives usually in a home which is one of many similar homes in a long line of attached homes. They are very remniscent in style to the English attached homes,  with living rooms downstairs, and bedrooms upstairs, although in all that I viewed much more spacious. Outside they have little, if any garden area.

The interior  of the home in which we stayed had a very beautiful parquetted floor  in the upstairs living area, and also on the stairs leading to it, which I found to be quite an unusual feature.

Generally speaking, the population of Malaysia consists of around 50% nativmembers of the Islame Malays, 30 % Chinese, and 10% Indian, with the balance of the population consisting on many any diverse minorities, the bulk of which are Pranakans, Eurasians, and the peoples of Sabah and Sarawak in the north of the island of Borneo.
The Malays are members of the Islam religion, whereas the Indian population are members of the various religions to be found in India as well as Islam. The Chinese  have retained  their original culture by following the three code of ethics: Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.

Our host and myself with the President of the local Buddhist Society who most graciously lent us their projector and amplifier for my evening lecture which was given in another Buddhist centre.

This is the main building of the complex which is the Buddhist Centre.

The main entrance is dominated by a Laughing Buddha, a most auspicious omen for the followers of Buddhism.

The interior is dominated by this Golden Buddha.

This whole complex is built on the shore of this delightful natural lake.

And so to our lecture, with our heratfelt thanks to the local Buddhist society.

On our first morning we had the opportunity of meeting and working with the local Qui Gong master who received us into his ban of followers most graciously and directed our far from expert practice of the art.

On our second morning we joined the majority of the locals as they exercised by walking, and practicing the various disciplies such as Tai Chi, Qhi Gong, and such like.

On the third and fourth days of my visit we had the pleasure of visiting and staying at the Farm Resort, Gambang, Pahang, an organic farm and resort in the final stages of its development.

The Hidden Hazards of Microwave Cooking

There appear to be amny who are still unaware of the harmfulness of the microwave oven and food which have been prepared in it, and even the effects of water which has been exposed to micro waves. The two following articles should dispel any doubts you, or any of your friends might have. Please do read, and pass on to all and sundry.

PSA Levels

Today I received this e-mail, which although not unusual in content, is so different from what most people hear, and are told that I felt I would like to share it with you. Of course I am only sharing the most relevant part to ensure the privacy of the person involved:

The last blood test I had done before I flew up to Cairns to spend some time learning about
your healthy diet plan, was reported to me on 17/10/'11 as having a PSA level of 8.1.  That's 4.6 points over my specified "Reference Interval"
of <3.5ug/L.  Well, on 15/02/'12 I had another blood test done ( before commencing a new job shortly ) for which I have received a notice from
the GP that my PSA level is now at 2.4 ug/L.  What a blessed relief!

The GP did say that this was highly unusual and that the testing company responsible for the result is above making such errors, that he felt
embarrased but relieved that he had to be the bearer of such news as it has always been news for the worse, not for better.  I replied that I am
on a strict diet that included fuit, vegetables, seeds and nuts, but was facing his computer and writing up his report notes.

In my many years of experience, this is the usual response to a change in lifestyle, from that which is normal in today's society, to one which follows the laws of nature. And whereas not every-one responds as well, the majority most certainly do.

Sun Does Not Cause Skin Cancer

For so long we have been hounded and abused if we do not, to cover up against the sun, as a major cause of skin cancer. This article from the British Journal of Dermatology, debunks this commonly held myth.

Toxic Psychiatry

Psychiatrys "billing bible"

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) is frequently referred to as psychiatry’s “billing bible.” This is because they can use any disorder added to the DSM to label you mentally ill and then bill you for it. Unlike medical conditions/diseases which are discovered and proven as medical conditions (through biopsy, test, physical abnormality) psychiatric disorders are literally voted into existence by a show of hands. Perhaps more disturbing is that the psychiatrists voting on the new disorders are frequently being paid by the pharmaceutical companies which manufacture the drugs for these disorders.Enough said.

ADHD is a bogus mental “disorder” based on a checklist of behaviors. There are no medical tests to prove any child has ADHD, yet more than 4.5 million kids have been diagnosed and put on drugs such as Ritalin, Adderall and Concerta, which the U.S. DEA places in the same highly addictive category of drugs as cocaine, morphine and opium. The “checklist” for ADHD could fit any normal child and literally includes such ridiculous criteria as

“loses pencils or toys”
“often does not seem to listen”
“is easily distracted by extraneous stimuli” (what kid isn’t?)
“fidgets”
” runs about or climbs excessively in situations when it is not appropriate” (we are talking about KIDS here… right?)

To summarize; there are no blood tests, brain scans, chemical imbalance tests, X-rays or “genetic” factors to prove any child has a mental “illness” called ADHD. This is simply a list of child-like behaviors that psychiatrists clustered together, repackaged as a mental disorder and the result is a multi billion dollar empire — the child labeling and drugging industry.

Psychiatrists openly admitting at an American Psychiatric Association conference that they have no scientific tests to show mental “illnesses” are biological or physical diseases, and that they have no cures for these unproven mental illnesses.

Dr. Niall McLaren, a practicing psychiatrist for 22 years, explains what is wrong with the psychiatric profession: That this is an industry which cannot take criticism, for fear the entire model of biological psychiatry will unravel.

That there is no science to psychiatric diagnoses, no brain based diseases. And that psychiatry only pushes mental disorders as biological disease in order to convince people to take psychiatric drugs, causing a host of dangerous side effects.

Anti-Biotics and Birth Defects -Source WDDTY

Antibiotics cause birth defects, pregnant women warned

Some antibiotics can cause severe birth defects, pregnant women have been warned this week.
Antibiotic use is common among pregnant women, and doctors have believed they do not affect the growing fetus, but a new study from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has discovered that two types of the drug can cause several severe birth defects.
One group, the nitrofurantoins, are regularly given to pregnant women who are resistant to other antibiotics, and they include the drug Furadantin.

Common antibiotic is a killer, researchers discover

One of the world’s most commonly prescribed antibiotics can be a killer, new research has discovered this week.
Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole – which is marketed as Septra and Bactrim – causes a range of life-threatening reactions, including kidney failure and hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), say researchers.

Breast Cancer & Mammograms

In recent years women have been forcefed the idea that mammograms are the definitive way to detect breast cancer. The latest research shows that far from this being the truth, they can cause undue harm. Read the whole story by following the link list below.

MS & Sunlight

Multiple sclerosis comes like a thief in the night and robs you of your quality of life. Your muscles weaken… and you lose coordination. You suffer from tremors and vision loss. And before you know it, you’re in a wheelchair, unable to tend to your daily needs.
About 300,000 Americans live with MS. Each year brings 10,000 new cases.
Doctors have been baffled for more than 30 years. Without knowing the cause of MS, the most they could do was prescribe drugs. Toxic drugs that could impair the immune system and do more harm than good.
But now researchers have unraveled the MS mystery. They’ve found an all-natural cure that’s safe and effective. It’s a powerful hormone. You can get it in high doses while taking a stroll in the park.
Dr. Jodie M. Burton is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Calgary in Canada. She works in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences. As part of the university’s MS team, she has explored ways to treat the disease.
Dr. Burton also worked as a neurologist at the University of Toronto. While there, she studied the impact of the all-natural hormone on MS patients. Her findings appeared in the journal Neurology.
When Your Body’s Internal Army Turns on Itself…
MS is an auto-immune disorder. Instead of protecting the body, the immune system turns on itself and attacks the protective covering on brain neurons. The impaired neurons then form scars (sclera) in multiple places on your brain and spinal column. (That’s why it’s called multiple sclerosis.)
Dr. Burton studied a group of MS patients. Half of them took 14,000 IUs of the hormone every day for one year. The other half could take up to 4,000 units. But most took about 1,000. All patients also received 1,200 mg of calcium daily.
The result: Only 14% of those taking 14,000 IUs had a relapse. That’s compared to 40% of those taking a lower dose. The study found no side effects, even at high doses.
Not only that. Those who took the higher dose reduced their relapse rate by 40% compared to the prior year. The others saw only a 17% reduction.
The hormone appears to suppress the auto-immune activity that leads to MS. It does so by reducing out-of-control T-cells. They’re the ones that attack the protective covering on the neurons.
Dr. Burton’s findings support a similar study in 2003. It was done by researchers at Harvard School of Public Health. They followed women in two large Nurse Health Studies. They found the hormone had a “protective effect.” And it kept the women from developing MS.
Neurologist Calls This All-Natural Solution “Incredibly Inexpensive” and “Powerfully Effective”
This powerful solution is vitamin D. It’s not really a vitamin. It’s a hormone your body produces naturally when exposed to the sun.
So ignore the myth about the sun being bad for you. It’s a lot of nonsense spread by the American Cancer Society and dermatologists. It’s to their benefit to keep you in the dark.
Deprive yourself of sunlight, and you put your health at risk.
Dr. David Perlmutter is a neurologist and fellow at the American College of Nutrition. He’s a graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine. And he’s currently Medical Director of the Perlmutter Health Center. He is a renowned expert on nutritional influences in neurological disorders.
He says Dr. Burton’s findings offer real hope for MS patients. “As a practicing neurologist actively treating patients with this sometimes-devastating disease, this new report clearly offered a potentially new and powerful tool for my toolbox,” he wrote in a recent article. “Vitamin D is incredibly inexpensive, and according to this report safe and powerfully effective as well.”
Dr. Michael F. Holick is a professor of Medicine, Physiology, and Biophysics. He works at Boston University Medical Center. He’s also Director of the Vitamin D, Skin and Bone Research Laboratory. He is the author of The Vitamin D Solution: A 3-Step Strategy to Cure Our Most Common Health Problem.
Dr. Holick says studies show that people in northern latitudes are more prone to diseases like MS and cancer. And now we know why. They are not getting enough sun.
“It is known that if you are born above 35° latitude at approximately Atlanta, Georgia, and live at this latitude for the first 10 years of your life that you have a 100% increased risk of developing multiple sclerosis,” he states on his website. “Recent studies have suggested that women and men who increase their vitamin D intake above 400 IU of vitamin D a day reduce the risk of developing multiple sclerosis by approximately 40%.”
Protect Yourself from MS in Just 15 Minutes a Day
So what do you do with this information? First, make sure you’re getting enough sun. According to Dr. Holick, you can boost your body’s vitamin D production by being outside for just 15-20 minutes. He says sunbathing can be equal to taking 20,000 IUs of vitamin D orally. With no sun exposure, he says you should take at least 1,000 IUs of vitamin D3 daily.
Other experts say you should take between 4,000 and 10,000 IUs a day. It depends on your situation.
Vitamin D is also in many foods. Nuts, seeds, and oils are the best sources. You can get it in green leafy vegetables
And vitamin D isn’t just helpful in warding off MS… It can cause cancer cells to self-destruct. Dramatically reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke. Lower bad cholesterol. Improve your mood. Help you maintain healthy blood pressure levels. Boost your defenses against germs, bacteria, and infectious disease. And increase your physical and mental energy.
It can also help prevent and treat rheumatoid arthritis… Parkinson’s disease… osteoporosis… and in all, over 20 different diseases!
To your best health,

Michael Jelinek,
Managing Editor, NHD “Health Watch

An Alternative Viewpoint

An Alternative Viewpoint

As much as I appreciate and commend Mike and his Health Rangers Newsletter for the great work they are doing, sometimes from a Nature Cure, and Natural Hygiene view point, the articles become a little skewed, being based, as I would see it, upon contemporary medical scientific thinking, and not upon that of Alternative Scientific thinking. Alternative Scientific thinking having its origin in the theories of the scientists who subscribe to pleomorphism, against mono-morphism. That is, that the bacteria are not the cause of disease, they are a part of the process of recovery, and take on many forms, according to the media they have to deal with. That (acute)disease is our bodies response to the conditions we have provided. On this basis is my response(below) to the following article.

NaturalNews) As most NaturalNews readers probably already know, there is a rapidly-growing resistance to antibiotics that has given way to antibiotic-resistant "superbugs" like Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP), and even the strongest antibiotic drugs available have all but lost their ability to treat even the most common infections that afflict people today.

However, a research scientist from the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology IZI in Leipzig, Germany, has discovered that simple, natural amino acids work better than antibiotics at treating infections, and they do not cause harm to healthy cells in the body.

For their study, Dr. Andreas Schubert and his colleagues from Fraunhofer tested the effects of amino acids in vitro and found that they broke through bacterial membranes and penetrated them quicker and with less of a required concentration than antibiotic drugs. And the best part of all was that the amino acids caused no cell damage, unlike antibiotics which kill off beneficial bacteria in the system as well as harmful bacteria.

                                Learn more: http://www.naturalnews.com/032825_amino_acids_antibiotics.html#ixzz1QbPq3vZa

                                       My Response

The first question we require to ask ourselves, when looking to find the answer to the so-called benefits of amino acids in these circumstances, is “What is (acute) disease?” And from a Nature Cure and Natural Hygiene viewpoint, it is the process by which our bodies heal themselves(restore homeostasis), from trauma. The trauma having originated either, physiologically(poor nutrition, lack of sunlight, accumulated toxic waste, etc.),physically(lack of physical activity, accident, etc.) psychologically(psychogical trauma, lack of adequate skills for dealing with stress etc.). Or a combination of any of the afore-mentioned – which it usually is.

The stopping(suppression) of this process by whatever means, be it antibiotics, or amino acids, as mentioned in the above article, is harmful, and fraught with danger in-so-far as in an extreme situation, could cause death to occur. And in all instances can, and will most certainly be, the pre-cursor to chronic disease at a later stage in life.

So that far from being  life-saving, and life-preserving, as this article implies, amino acids only contribute further to our ill health, and may well be the basis of our eventual demise if persevered with long term.
